Day 190: Hosea marries Gomer, a prostitute.
Hosea 1:2, “In the beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, go take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms; for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord.”
This means that they, again, worshipping their false idol, Baal, for rain, fertility of flocks and children.”
They think that if they perform circumcisions, eat kosher foods, automatically say their prayers. They think that maybe God won’t notice their hybrid form of worship to include the false god they are praying to, even though their very first commandment is “I AM the Lord, thy God, and thou shalt not have false gods before me.”
They practice sinful ways to do this by sleeping with the prostitutes of the temple of Baal (to enhance fertility concerns), and other ones, too. God has this to say about that in Hosea 8: 14 “For Israel has forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples, and Judah has multiplied fenced cities; but I will send fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces, thereof.”
So, to make a visual point to the Jews, God tells Hosea to marry a prostitute, and she will bring him children (but they are not necessarily from Hosea). So, he does. It appears she was not faithful — after all, she was a prostitute and slept with many. She gets pregnant three times producing two sons, and one daughter. Their names carry rough meanings, almost to be the salt in the wounds.
But, Hosea loves her and buys her back from the man she left with. That visual was for the Jews to see that God still loved them and would take them back if they stopped their false worshipping. For Hosea, his wife, Gomer, was also impressed by his actions taking her back even though she committed sins against her husband.
God, continually takes back the Jews, even though they keep straying from him. He let’s them suffer the consequences when they do stray, but does not punish them, forever. He chose them, He wants them, he loves them.
We are going through rough times with burning of buildings, and chaos all over the country, and the world. The world is moving very far from God, and embracing Satan’s ways. Not everyone is doing that, and for the ones that believe in God, continue to pray for the redemption of our people because they have turned back to God. In our current state of affairs, the child trafficking and abuse and torture and sacrificing them is a direct abomination against God, and humanity. This includes abortion. All this is sacrifices to Satan done in the most horrendous ways.
Light always dispels the darkness. Jesus is that Light, and He has already claimed the victory by His Death and Resurrection. Run, devil, run. You’ve already lost. You may have done it for Satan/Baal, but those Souls are with Jesus and their suffering is over. You lost them. Jesus saves.
