The Curious Organs are the Bones, Marrow, Vessels, Gall Bladder (also one of the 12), the Brain, and the Uterus. They are called that because they are not organs but they have such a unique and important part in our bodies.

Bones and Marrow are manufactured in the Kidneys. The Marrow is produced in the bone cavities where it nourishes their growth and development. Kidney Essence must be strong if it is to produce strong and healthy bones. Teeth are considered and extension of bones, the part you can see. weak or strong teeth will also be dependent on strong Kidney Essence.

There are two types of Marrow; Spinal and bone marrow. The Spinal Marrow ascends to connect with the Brain (which is considered the marrow of the head bone because it is in the middle of the skull). The Brain is called ‘The Sea of Marrow’. Head hair is governed by Kidney, and is dependent on the condition of the Kidney energy. “The Kidney dominates bone and manifests on the hair.”

Although the Gall Bladder is one of the main Fu organs because it stores bile, it doesn’t receive food or water, so this places it in two categories.

The Brain is the organ of spirit, thinking, and consciousness. “The head is the residence of intelligence.” It is never empty because it houses Marrow. It has a close association with the Heart, as it obeys the commands that the Heart sends to it, because the Heart rules the mind.

The Vessels transport Qi and Blood to the rest of the body. They are the “Yang Organ of the Blood”. Pretty important, I’d say…

The Uterus has a very special name in Chinese. Translated it means “Fetal Palace”. It is closely related to the Kidney; therefore, its reproductive functions are governed by the Kidney. The Chong and Ren Meridians begin in the Uterus. It is connected to Heart, Liver, and Spleen, as well, because of their functions with Blood (Heart dominates Blood, Liver stores Blood, and Spleen controls Blood).
