DAY 98: Getting Coached

Photo by Hello I'm Nik 🎞 on Unsplash

The first time I hired a coach was in 2010. This particular coach did EFT tapping, which I had learned many years before, but forgot about it and forgot HOW to do it. Her price was $3500.00 if I paid in two installments, or I could get $300.00 off if I paid in full on the One Time Offer. I was leaving the kind of work I did at the time, (private home healthcare) but decided after my last client died, I would give it up completely. See, the thing with that type of work, is that your client either dies from age, or if someone is sick, they may either die, or live in a group home setting, and no longer need you. Your income is immediately over. It’s self-employed, no benefits except what you create yourself, and unless you saved money, Plan B better be ready to launch.

I made good money while I was doing it and did put a bunch away (because I knew I needed new work). But, it was never the kind of money I could retire on. It did provide me with about a ten month ‘leave of absence’ to figure something else out. During that past ten years, my acupuncture business was waning fast because as your clients get older, and sometimes sicker, they want you there more often. I was still preparing to revive my acupuncture business, though, with a new twist. Cosmetic Acupuncture, which I had started to learn about the time my private home healthcare business started to bloom. I liked it, so it wasn’t that I was taking the path of least resistance, but it was a pretty easy job for me, most of the time. I did get somewhat lazy, like when they took naps, etc.

When I found Ms K, I somewhat surprised myself to put that on my credit card to get the $300.00 discount — I would have paid it in interest, anyhow. Hence, we began, and she sent me syllabuses to download and print, gave me homework, too, helped me write scripts, but the one thing I did not quite like, or fully understand was when she told me to focus on one thing. Ok, I thought, and I said “acupuncture”. She said, nope, that was too broad. But, I didn’t want to do that because acupuncture can treat a variety of things — which is why she said, ‘one thing’. She told me I had to find a target market which I couldn’t do if I had too broad of a scope. I settled on the cosmetic acupuncture.

I have dabbled listening to Tony, and Dean G., and others who I can tell by their speech and ways, that they all either took the same course work and put their own spin on it, or there was something to this coaching course of action. I lean that it is a little of both. I see the threads of familiarity when I listen to other coaches. Ms K taught me some good things, even though I didn’t grasp it all at once, which makes it hard to get the homework done. Some call it Massive Action, some call it Imperfect Massive Action, or I’ve heard a variety of ways to say, ‘just do it’. I think that the money was well spent, because same thing, it moved me a bit more off the couch and my complacency. I have signed on with others doing Masterclasses and while they can be similar, I learn something new from each one that will make what was not understandable to me, make sense because they explained it in a way I could grasp.

You have to find out which ones resonate with you, but they DO need to be able to motivate you. And, when you spend a few thousand here and there, you eventually start applying more because it can take a fair amount of time and money to invest in yourself. And, that is what it is, an investment in yourself. What greater thing is there to invest in, if not yourself? Even the best CEOs still hire personal coaches. And Tony is probably commanding a $10,000.00 fee to coach them, and they gladly pay it. It probably isn’t giving them 36 phone calls, either. It could just be the price of one meeting. It is worth it to them. After all, it does pay off if you want to grow, and it will bring in money (you may just reinvest it in yourself or business, but that’s ok). And things will make sense — though I’m still working on my personal issue of automation and understanding software that I bought, maybe a bit hastily, but someone smarter than me suggested it. They assumed I knew what I was doing with it, and I assumed that it wasn’t hard to learn because their product looked so nice and easy.

I won’t stop investing in myself, or hiring coaches or taking Masterclasses. Yes, 6 and 7 figures can be made. Just look at some of these high end coaches, they are making it. It is not because they are charging high prices, though, some can be, even at the beginner’s level. They are weeding out the ones who will buy the course and just let it sit, and then complain about the coach’s high fees that did nothing for them. Uh-uh. You have to do the work. You can’t give up, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some time off. If you are on a paid certain amount of time, like six weeks, three months, or a year, well, when the time runs out, the course is done, but the learnings are not. Most high end coaches give you more than you paid for in free things.

Many of us will spend that much in a year on entertainment, addictions, and luxuries. It’s good to invest some great things for yourself, too, that will raise your vibration.
