I guess many of us have similar stories. In one of my several breakups, he had forgotten his leather jacket in my closet. Unfortunately, this breakup was perpetuated from his sister, feeding on his paranoia from a mental illness, and she was my best friend, at the time. Note to self — never date your best friend’s brother — they get jealous of his love for you…

For SIX months I couldn’t sleep unless I was wearing his jacket to bed. Even my son said I was robbed of that relationship because of her. My sons knew them both. We did get back together and that lasted for three more years. I nearly lost one of my sons to an asthma attack and spent all my nights at the hospital. She probably sabotaged again. Because, of course, I was in more contact with my ex, who was his father and why was I always going to the hospital — duh, really? I’m sure she pointed that out about the ex because it came up in our last conversation. Didn’t matter he had a new wife and religion… Anyway, it ended again, but this time I knew there would never be a chance…that was 15 years ago.

What have I learned? I really don’t think anything because I am a totally confident successful woman and spot on about things and life…. until I fall in love. DAMN IT!
