Thank GOD!! It can keep me up at night, and it can give me discomfort in my stomach if I drink too much, so moderation is key. I am aware that if I don’t drink it, I am sluggish that day with a slight headache. So, there is an addicting affect.

While I have no specific medical background or research on coffee and kids, I did witness where it seemed to help a child I knew. I used to babysit a son of a friend of mine, of Korean background, for the weekend to give his parents a break from his hyper activity and lack of focus (probably now considered ADHD). His dad was my Tae Kwon Do instructor, and that was actually one way they could help In focus. But, at night before it was time for In to go to bed (he was 5), he would ask for a cup of coffee and it seem to calm him down, and then he could go to sleep. Sometimes what affects adults one way, has the opposite affect on kids….
